We control every aspect of our banjos, from wood selection to shipping

The process employs several custom made parts, but wood selection is an important detail and we take it very seriously.  Our chambered bodies are typically two-pieced quality tone woods with a book-matched figured tone wood top.  They are bound and can have optional purfling including abalone shell.  Each body is matched with and routed for a specific neck, ensuring a perfect fit.  Our necks are built out of figured rock maple and the best quality ebony fingerboards to make sure they are strong, long-lasting, and elegant.  Inlays can be cut in any design from either mother of pearl, abalone, or figured hardwoods. We also offer binding and/or purfling on our necks and headstocks.  The chambered body and active circuit allow the piezo pickup underneath the bridge to have the dynamic range of a traditional banjo, but gives the power to be heard clearly and virtually feedback free when plugged in.  With a custom brass tone ring, a banjo bridge, and a banjo tailpiece to complement the pickup system, the tone of the Steamboat Electric Banjo is practical for both clawhammer and three-finger style pickers.  With the optional magnetic pickup and volume/tone controls our banjo can be plugged into an electric guitar-style amplifier to produce hair-raising volumes and ear-stretching tones.
